Sea Youth Rise Up 2017!

With nearly half of the world’s population under age 25, it is imperative that we empower young people to step us as leaders at an early age, and engage them in a solutions oriented approach to ocean conservation. Launched in 2016, the Sea Youth Rise Up Campaign brought seven youth leaders to New York City and Washington D.C. to host a youth call to action for ocean conservation which was live streamed to a global audience. This year, the movement continues, with Sea Youth Rise Up 2017 - bringing seven young leaders back to New York City for the World Ocean Festival to provide an opportunity for them to gain skills to expand their ocean conservation work, network with world leaders, and speak up for the ocean conservation issues they’re passionate about during a globally broadcast, Facebook Live Youth Rally for the Ocean from the World Ocean Festival on June 4th.

Want to join the delegation? Young people ages 14-21 are invited to enter the Sea Youth Rise Up Video Competition, by sharing a 90 second video message highlighting their personal opinion about the current state of the ocean and innovative ideas about how young people can help improve the health of our blue planet. One student winner will be selected to join their peers and world leaders in New York City June 3-5, to speak up for ocean conservation through a live broadcast and special events. Entries are due by May 24, 2017 – for complete details visit: www.seayouthriseup.org !
